Last November I wrote the Twine game Zeitgeist 1980 for NaNoWriMo. It told the story of a high-school kid sent away to stay with his irresponsible cousin Colt over winter break, only to get wrapped up with accidental human trafficking and the mob.
It was inspired by 80s movies, specifically 1980 action comedy releases Smokey and the Bandit II and Every Which Way You Can.
Over the 2020 pandemic I’ve been working on porting the game from Twine to godot with an eye towards expanding it into an episodic serial. The Twine game becomes, in essence, the first “episode” set in 1980.
Anyway, here’s a video I made where I go through the process of designing the fuller game’s user interface.
