Zeitgeist 1980 – What Comes Next

Zeitgeist 1980 Public Release 1.0
Learning Godot 0: The Adventure so Far

There has been sufficient interest to develop Zeitgeist 1980 further, so here’s the plan going forward.

First off, I’ll be developing the game into an ongoing serial. New episodes will be added regularly, available in the next “update” of the game. Saving at the end of one lets you continue on in the next, with all of the character building and choices made preserved.

This allows us to turn the story into one of the decade’s strangeness, with an overarching plot built out of individual mini-adventures that support and expand on one another.

Release Schedule

The standalone release of episode 1 – now subtitled Rascal and the Bandit – will remain available as a free demo. Play it, check it out, save the game when it prompts you to if you plan to check out the full game.

New episodes will be made available first to my supporters on Patreon, about one iteration ahead of what’s available commercially. For those who purchase the game new episodes will be added when the game updates, made available for download.

Development will continue in Twine. I’d considered switching to Ren’Py or the Unity gamebook format, but ultimately Twine works well for the serial format.

We’ll see where it goes from here.

Michael Coorlim is a teller of strange stories for stranger people. He collects them, the oddballs. The mystics and fire-spinners, the sages and tricksters. He curates their tales, combines their elements and lets them rattle around inside his rock-tumbler skull until they gleam, then spills them loose onto the page for like-minded readers to enjoy.
